My Zenfone 8 has just 2 hours ago joined the ever growing team of bricked Zenfones. I have, just like most with this issue used it for only about 2 years.
It does not start or charge anymore. I tried all the common key combinations to restart it but nothing happens. The only life sight it gives is that it is turning warm.
Before that I been having issues with the rear camera for the last week. It was only working in WhatsApp but no other app.
I am quite angry as I've read here, in reddit and Facebook that thousands of others have the same issue at around the 2 years mark. I have my banking apps linked to that phone which have my banking authenticatos so I can't even transfer money anymore or access banking , my two factor authenticator and my Password Manager are also in there which I can now not access. so basically my whole digital life is in there. Besides that I can't access my WhatsApp and can't get in touch with my business contacts.
This seems to be a design error or just simply planned obsolescence and Asus should repair all our phones free of charge.

I've added my case to already to the list. I've contacted a local repair shop that claims that the issue is because of thy CPU that is not properly soldered on the motherboard. He offered to reball the CPU for the couple hundred bucks and says it will be fixed without data loss. Not sure if this will actually work.

A new motherboard is around 500USD - but you will lose everything.
Do you have a "spare" phone? Was the ZF8 set to backup both SMS, WhatsApp & Photos. If so, you "should" be able to switch to the spare phone and get everything back. I lost one picture I took 5 minutes before it bricked and hadn't uploaded to the cloud and the day's WhatsApp - which was just family messages.
Banking, 2FA, Password manager was just a case of reinstalling and logging in / registering. I am off to the USA on Wednesday, and am carrying my old Sony just in case.
