Best media (music/video) player?

Currently I just use File Manager to access media files (music and video). It works, but doesn't provide any flexibility or facility.
At the risk of getting many different answers, can you recommend some simple competent good-looking media player for Android? The choice is just overwhelming. I hate the UI of VLC. Museo seems very non-intuitive. The BlackBerry OS10 music and video players were just a great mix of simplicity married to capability. Alas no more.
