Android Auto and the ASUS Zenfone 4 no worky worky!

Does anyone have any experience getting android auto to work with the zenfone 4? I've tried multiple other phones and they work fine but my ZF4 does nothing. I even spent 2 hours on the phone with Asus tech support and got nowhere. I've tried the USB debugging, different cords (that work with the other phones) and have had zero luck! Any help would be awesome!
