Heating up is a normal part of phones nowadays as they get more and more complex and start being more like mini computers than just phones.
Heating up when playing games is very normal as the chip needs to handle a lot of graphic work.
And also heating up is very common when charging as the electric charge does produce heat.
You can always activate steady charging to have a more constant electricity flow but you should not worry, as the devices are made to deal with this.
