Use the Numberpad to input characters not included on keyboard ("Alt-Codes")?

Star I

Using a Vivobook X1404ZA running Windows 11.

When I first saw the Numberpad (alternative use of the touchpad - NOT physical keys of an extended keyboard) on an Asus device I thought it was a great idea, especially for the small dimensions of a 14" laptop. When I finally bought one a few weeks ago I was hoping (expecting!) that I would be able to use the Numberpad in conjunction with the Alt key to input extended characters by typing the relevant character number. I often need to type such characters and this technique is much faster than changing keyboard layout or using the Character Map accessory in Windows.

I haven't found any way to use Numberpad to do this. However I've found a related thread in the gamers' forum (a function seemingly used by them, I wouldn't know 😉 ) where the same problem is posed.

An error was logged as follows:

Device HID\ASUE1411&Col02\5&16de9d72&0&0001 had a problem starting.

From my understanding, the NumPad cannot be input using combination keys.
Sorry for any inconvenience it may be caused.
