Hi . I need to upgrade the ram and hDD ( to SSD) in my laptop model X411UA. Installed 8 GB 2400 mhz DDR4 RAM in the empty slot, however it is not showing additional capacity.

make sure its double sided ram or single-sided , normally add same company ram module

existing 4 GB RAM is on motherboard , so we do not have any info.. There is a RAM slot available and another slot for SSD.
What we have installed is dual rank RAM

I have own experience . once I had desktop, actually MB supported only double sided ram , without knowing I installed single sided, computer started and within 3 seconds it's shutted down.

double sided means, both front side and back side, DRAM are embedded in ram module.

single sided means, only front side, DRAM are embedded in ram module
