I have just received my new E1404GA. I'm going to use it for testing software which I cannot trust.
Unfortunately, as far as I can workout, it is delivered with a non-removable UFS, and no M.2 slot.
The seller specified the storage as "128GB SDD" in the article's title, and in detailed specifications as "128 GB SSD - UFS 2.1", which is an exact copy of the label on the box.(Photo) I cannot blame him.
The ASUS-specifications suggests "Expansion Slots (includes used) 1x M.2 2280 PCIe 3.0x2 (SSD SKU only)", which obviously means the SSD option among the three options listed as "Storage".
I did expect a removable storage, and I did not care about it as I planned to replace it.
A) Where can I report this "typo"?
I strongly advice ASUS to change "SSD" on the box label to "Storage" as in the specifications.
B) How can I setup a work-around?
Can I deactivate the UFS in a way making it impossible for even the most advanced malware to access the device?
Can I clear the UFS using a method guaranteeing all sectors resat? How many times can I do so before the UFS becomes very slow?
C) Can I add an USB4 port? (The current USB speed is only 5Gbps)
I have watched two disassembly videos and it seems like no PCIe slot is available.
Asus offers this upgrade for the USB controller cards:
without specification of speed.
Some laptops have been sold with USB 3.2 ports which turned into USB ports after BIOS/software upgrade, but how can I figure out whether this is possible? By the chip numbers on the controller card? As I understand, the necessary PCIe lanes for USB4 are available on all newer controller cards.
D) The mainboard has space for an M.2, but no one is soldered. Can I just solder this part offered when I search for parts for my laptop:
https://en.accessoires-asus.com/laptop/dc-power/sata-plug/asus-sata-m2-connector-65405-68014.htm#e14...
E) How can I find spare part numbers for a replacement mainboard featuring an M.2 adapter?
Based on what I paid for the PC I expect them to be very affordable.
I have tried
https://partshop.asus.com/us/search/advanced/
https://en.accessoires-asus.com/
https://en.accessoires-asus.com/laptop/motherboard/
but I only find exactly the board missing an M.2.
I think this problem is general: You cannot find upgrade parts like e.g. an 14" OLED display for replacing a 14" IPS display.
I.E. you cannot search for compatible parts.
If I am wrong, then please show me how to do that.

A: The specification shown in the provided photo is from the product box, and "SSD 128G UFS" matches the actual configuration of your purchased unit.
B: It is not possible to completely disable or physically disconnect the UFS storage on this model.
C: Please provide the BIOS version of your laptop so that we can further confirm this for you.
[Windows 11/10] How to check the model name and BIOS version
D :If you attempt to solder any components onto the motherboard, this will void the warranty of your laptop.
E: The product specifications are based on the shipping configuration, and individual motherboard components are not sold separately.
If the specifications of the product you purchased do not meet your requirements and the laptop is newly purchased, we recommend contacting your dealer to confirm whether a return or exchange is possible. Sorry for any inconvenience it may be caused.

Thank you so much for your answers 😄
A) I fully agree. But are you then claiming my laptop has an M.2 slot as the specifications clearly says "Expansion Slots (includes used) 1x M.2 2280 PCIe 3.0x2 (SSD SKU only)". You suggest my laptop is a "SSD SKU"!?
The mainboard I found when I search in partshop.asus.com using my S/N has in the lower right corner of the photo an area prepared for an M.2 slot, but no slot is soldered.
But the photo could be wrong!?
C)
BIOS version: Version 306 (E1404GAAS.306)
Model: 90NB0ZW2-N000X0
I would be extremely happy with an USB4 solution even I need to replace the USB controller card.
D) I realize the warranty will be void, but if the mainboard is fully prepared for an M.2 slot and ASUS sells an upgrade part I just need to solder, I will be very happy with that solution.
Can you confirm this solution will work? The page for the upgrade part is not very clear.
E) https://partshop.asus.com/us/90nb0zw0-r00011.html is found using a search for my S/N. What is it then, if it is not "an individual motherboard component"?

@HappyShabbat
The E1404GA has the following storage configurations available:
If your product was shipped with the 128GB UFS configuration, there is no removable or pluggable storage slot available.
As listed on the specification page: “Expansion slots (including those already used): 1x M.2 2280 PCIe 3.0×2 (SSD models only).”
This means that only models equipped with a large-capacity NVMe SSD have an available M.2 slot.
Regarding the USB specification, it is USB 3.2 and cannot be upgraded to 4.0 by updating the BIOS.
If you have concerns about the product specifications with a newly purchased device, we still recommend contacting your dealer to confirm whether a return or exchange is possible. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Thank you so much for your answer.
I read it as you suggest "128GB UFS" is the correct designation for my model. I fully agree.
Now, in my original request I kindly adviced you to change the text on the product box, which you in your first post confirms is "SSD 128G UFS". My suggestion for a better text was "Storage 128G UFS" as written in the specifications.
The text "SSD" is misleading as you concluded yourself: Only one model has a SSD but if you use that term for all models, then customers can get the impression that they receive a model having M.2 slot even they do not.
Unfortunately, the dealer has no return/open deal policy, but even he had I would still try to find a work-around before returning a product. I feel myself I came up with three pretty good attempts to find a solution.
