Every single ROG7 has an issue due to what I believe is the refresh rate not being correct which causes all content to stutter. This issue was picked up on DXOMark here (https://www.dxomark.com/asus-rog-phone-7-display-test/)
If you set the refresh rate to 60hz, the actual refresh rate will be ~61hz
If you set the refresh rate to 120hz, the actual refresh rate will be ~121hz
This leads to duplicate frames and is extremely apparent when playing games like Super Meat Boy Forever that scroll at a fixed speed. You can also see this on testufo.
Using the FPS overlay, you'll see the framerate exceed 60fps and sit at 61.
This means every 60 frames or so, there will be a duplicate frame.
This issue does not occur on the ROG2 which is my previous phone.
I have done a full factory reset of the phone and the same issue occurs.
DXO Mark made a comment on the issue.
ASUS needs to investigate this. I understand its not the latest model, but this stutter completely ruins this phone for me.

Thank you Mattias for the response.
I'm currently away and busy so I'll need some time to gather the logs and I have some more tests I need to run.
According to the team the +1 is by design, this design is for a better overall gaming experience.
Can you go into more detail about how this helps with a better overall gaming experience?
If a game or app is locked to 60fps and the refresh rate is 61hz, on the 61st refresh of the display cycle there is going to be a refresh of the display were the game or app doesn't have a frame ready to display which leads to stutters.
However, if the game is allowed to run uncapped (61fps at 61hz) then there is no stutter because every refresh of the display has a frame ready to run.
I have some tests with me running Quake with and without a framerate cap and I can replicate the stutter easily.
60fps @ 61hz = stutter.
61fps @ 61hz = no stutter.
I just need to edit down the videos with some framerate analysis.
No display should be running at 61hz or 121hz because not all apps and games run uncapped framerates.

Yes, please fix the stuttering issue. Its still there. Im playing PUBGM, no matter if its 60, 90, or 120FPS. The issue still there. Overall i agree with @Intervene.
So please help us. +1 or +2 FPS is not helping at all.

@JS11 I understand, if you are also experiencing this then please also help providing a log so that the team can look into.

I just tested the new update. Playing PUBGM in 60FPS. Man, i experience lag(freeze) for about a second. Happened to me only once so far. That the only problem i got so far despite the FPS still not capped properly. I only playing for 3 match. But the temperature and smoothness is way better when i playing PUBGM in this update(v.75)

I have attached a new video file demonstrating the stutter using Quake. Quake allows me to cap the framerate to prove that a 61hz refresh is causing applications to stutter.
With the display set to 60hz (61hz really) and the game running at 61fps, there are no stutters.
With the display set to 60hz (61hz really) and the game capped to 60fps, there are stutters.
You cannot have a display that runs with a 61hz refresh rate. 61hz is not a common framerate for games. Every single piece of software / app that runs at a fixed 60fps (Videos, Emulation, Games) will have microstutters every 61 frames.
Please forward this video to the tech team to investigate and publish new firmware fixing this issue.
