I heard wiping cache alleviates some of the problems, does anyone know how to go to recovery mode to do this?

As the user @RobLake mentioned, you can do a factory reset by going to Settings > System > Reset options > Erase all data.
Or you can go into recovery mode by turning off your phone and pressing Volume up + Power button and choosing factory reset.

no it's not, factory reset mine twice, before doing the downgrade which is the one that really help solved the problems in my case. But... You're welcome to try though

It's the most easiest part, Just wipe out the data from ROM and when it will be cleared, Install a new one, you need TWRP for that. details can be found at ASUS main page. receiptify spotify

Wiping the cache can help resolve some device issues. To enter recovery mode, turn off your device, then for Android devices, press and hold the Volume Up and Power buttons simultaneously until the recovery menu appears. Use the volume buttons to select “Wipe Cache Partition” and the Power button to confirm. For iPhones, connect to iTunes or Finder, press and hold the Volume Down and Side buttons until you see the recovery mode screen, then choose to restore or update. After wiping the cache, select “Reboot” to restart your device. receiptify spotify
