I had similar problem. Follow this process it should work
1. Connect both controller to it's charger.
2. Connect usb c cable to phone ( main charging point) and other end to controller charger.
3. In few minutes it should take the update. Even if it shows update failed, leave it for few minutes.
4. Now remove cable from controller charger. Then do the calibration, instead of using phone charger. Use phone charging point itself ( as done for update). It will be done.
