I have a:
I wanted to dual boot windows and linux, as well as copy my linux system from my old computer to the new laptop. I was able to dual boot linux on the machine, and then I followed instructions I found online to create a tar.gz copy of my root(/) folder on my old pc and move that to my new pc. Some of the instructions included reformatting and updating grub.
I now suspect that updating grub erased my Microsoft boot folder with the .efi file and my bcd files. My windows data partition is still on the device but I can't seem to find a way to fix the boot configuration. When I use a bootable windows usb it says that I am missing certain drivers and the bootable usb is unable to boot.
I was able to get one bootable usb to boot, but when I entered the command line to try:
It doesn't seem to pick up the windows installation. This same bootable usb seems to only read its own disk. When i enter diskpart and run list disk, it doesn't pick up the hard drive or any of the partitions on the main hard drive. It only list it's own memory location.
I really need help to find out how I can reconfigure the bootloader. I don't want to reset the laptop to factory settings and lose all of the data I currently have.
