ROG Maximus XI Hero (WI-FI) TPM Compatibility

ZT-78e5641d
Star I
I have the subject motherboard. When I initially switched to Windows 11, the PC Health check passed. It currently failed the health check for compatibility with TPM 2.0. The MB has a 14-Pin TPM socket, so I ordered a TPM plug-in to become compatible and then saw a post indicating that changing the BIOS Advanced>PCH-FW to enable TPM would solve the problem. I changed it to enable TPM Firmware and my system then passed the Health Check including TMP 2.0 Compatibility. Can anyone explain the above in terms of functionality? What did the BIOS change enable? Do I still need the 14-Pin plug-in?
Thanks for any inputs.
