I'm running a pair of XD5 in access point mode. I've disabled wireless b in the web interface but this is only applied to the main unit & not to the node. What do I need to do to make the change global for the entire mesh rather than just the main unit?
Possibly related, inSSIDer is reporting a VHT mismatch in the 5GHz band.

Two things to look at, one make sure all are updated to latest firmware. Second a successful hard reset of a node will not automatically reconnect. You'd need to manually delete the node from the primary AP and search for an AiMesh node.

Firmware is up to date on all units.
Whether a factory reset or soft reset has taken place is impossible to know, as the documentation makes no distinction. The only reset available the either the app or web interface is a factory reset of everything. There is no option to reset a node that I can find.

Word from Asus is that the nodes only work properly when connected to a main unit as a router. When connected as a access point this, for some bizarre reason, fails. Obviously no one in their right mind runs two routers, especially if just because the manufacturer of one of them can't be bothered to make it work properly as an access point.
So once again with Asus, what looked to be a decent product is crippled by design. Return process initiated...
