RT-AX82U Limited internet access / no IPv4?

Well, I guess I spoke to soon.  I have some internet connectivity, ie. a few web pages like bing.com, google.com and so forth. I have nordvpn set up and connected (shows connected). But pulling up ip check on webpage show's otherwise. Also, reguardless of vpn status (on/off), when I check ipv6 status website(s), It shows ipv6 as working and ipv4 as not available/detected.

This is a new router, latest firmware. I'm using "passthrough" in routers ipv6 settings and I have yet to find dns server settings location for the vpn.

I guess I have IPv6 internet access but no IPv4 internet access...to sum it up.

Any idea's?

Ok,

Merlin flashed with no problems at all.

Openvpn setup again and works perfect.

I mean to say that I get an IP address, both public and private, internal to the router.

I disabled IPv6 in the router to ensure data wasn't bypassing the vpn.

Still no internet through the router, wired or wireless. Messages on web pages point to dns failure.

Now in the VPN setup it has a spot to enter the VPN's dns address under WAN tab. However this is for 'Ethernet WAN' , there is no place to enter dns address' for 'USB WAN'. ...ie usb tethering can't utilize vpn since there is no option to enter the dns?

This applies to the Asus and Merlin firmware versions...(latest versions).

Was there an earlier version that had provisions for dns entry when using tethering?

Today, I rebooted router, set up ad single wan (usb). No vpn, no firewall, no ipv6. Barebones as far as I could get. Still no internet on any device, wired or wireless.

Here is the log.

...or not , can only attach pictures?

Finally figured it out.

A downstream router, xx611-GT4, which often needs a hard reset after power glitches, needed another reset. This time it wouldn't reset, maybe firmware?

Anyway, I have a xx611-8PT that fits in the same footprint. Problem solved.

One last question, does Asus make a router or switch that will fit the same footprint? I haven't found any active products, maybe a legacy one that someone might recall?

Thanks again for everyones help.
