RT-AX53U: turn wifi radio completely on/off on schedule?

Hi,
On the RT-AX53U, does the Wireless Scheduler actually turn off the radio or does it just close the network from access during the specified time?

I uninstalled the package and just added a two cron jobs in the native Scheduled Tasks. This turns the radio off completely at 1 AM and turns it on again at 6.45 AM.

0 1 * * * wifi down
45 6 * * * wifi up
