Change asus main router out for new router

How do I change (swap out) my existing main ASUS router (RT-AC86U) to an ASUS XT9 router?  I have an ASUS imesh system and have changed all the nodes to the XT9 model.  I want to change the main router out as well.  I have a router/modem that’s provided by my ISP (fiber optic via Lumos).  My existing main ASUS router (RT-AC86U) is connected to then Lumos fiber optic router/modem via WAN connection to the LAN port on the Lumos router provided by my ISP.

Hi @KESM ,

Thank you for your inquiry. Please be informed that if you wish to change the main router, you must first remove the AiMesh nodes.

If you want to change the RT-AC86U from the main router to a node, you need to reset the RT-AC86U first.

This will allow you to complete the subsequent AiMesh setup.

We greatly appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

Thank you.

Hi…thanks for the feedback.  So I need to remove all of the ASUS nodes and the ASUS router?  Essentially setting up a new network?  If so would I have to then contact my ISP to get the newly assigned main router back connected to the OTP modem/router provided  by LUMOS?  Would all of my devices have to be reset to latch to the new network?
