AX59U indicator light goes red after joined to mesh network with AX58U

Star I

Bought a AX59U today to use with an existing AX58U.

Initial setup was wrong however seemed to work as I could get an IP from it. It was setup using the Android app from my phone. A firmware update was done and one device (my phone) was seen. I then realised I should have said to add it as a node to the existing network so I reset the AX59U to start again.

from the AX58U, I have attempted to connect it as node through:

1. web interface/mesh node/search

2. web interface/AiMesh/Add AiMesh node

Before each connection attempt I have reset the AX59U to factory default with the physical reset button on the back. In each instance I could see the indicator light on the AX59U changing colour during the process with the colour stopping on red. in each instance the process completes indicating it was successful. The AX58U appears in the AiMesh list of nodes as offline and never comes online with the indicator remaining red. rebooting routersin any order makes no change.

Hi @clanman ,

Regarding the AiMesh setup issue you're experiencing, we recommend trying the following adjustments:

  1. Router specifications: If you have multiple routers, we recommend setting the higher-specification router as the primary router (AiMesh router). You can try setting the RT-AX59U as the primary router to see if it improves the issue.
  2. Device distance: During the setup process, please keep the AiMesh router and node within 1-3 meters of each other to ensure a stable signal.
  3. Refer to FAQ: For detailed AiMesh setup steps and common questions, please refer to the following FAQ: [AiMesh] How to setup AiMesh system (Web GUI)? | Official Support | ASUS Global

Thank you.

Hi @Aureliannn_ASUS

I have reset all routers and made the new AX59U the master and the AX58U the node. This has worked.
