After updating motherboard firmware, my pc first boots to a black screen (should be windows login screen). Then I decide to shut it down and boot again but it skips the ASUS ROG screen and goes right to the windows login. Then when I login, it takes forever while saying welcome before it signs me in. Any ideas how to resolve this?
Before this it would boot normally showing the ASUS ROG screen for a moment with the loading ring and then the sign page and sign in almost instantly.

Hello @boydd
Could you let us know which model in the ROG STRIX Z490 you are currently using, such as the ROG STRIX Z490-A GAMING or ROG STRIX Z490-I GAMING, and which device's firmware did you update?
In general, after a BIOS update, the POST process may take longer due to memory training or differences in default parameters.
If you are experiencing longer boot times or the system skipping the logo after completing the BIOS update, we recommend trying to clear CMOS or disable Fast Boot in both the BIOS and the OS before checking again.
Additionally, we suggest ensuring that the drivers and firmware for your peripheral devices, such as SSD firmware, are fully updated.
Thank you.
