ROG STRIX B450-F GAMING fTPM not working

zaman_turja
Star I

Hello,

I am experiencing an issue with the TPM (Trusted Platform Module) not showing up in Windows 11 after enabling fTPM and Secure Boot in the BIOS of my ROG STRIX B450-F GAMING motherboard.

Here’s a detailed rundown of what I’ve done so far:

  1. BIOS Version: I was previously using BIOS version 5404, and in this version, TPM was not visible in Windows either.
  2. BIOS Update: I then updated to BIOS version 5502, hoping it would fix the issue, but unfortunately, I’m still not seeing the TPM in Windows.
  3. Settings Checked:
    • I have enabled fTPM (Firmware TPM) in the BIOS.
    • I have also enabled Secure Boot.
    • I’ve tried toggling these settings (enabling/disabling both fTPM and Secure Boot) and restarting the system multiple times, but no luck.
  4. What I’ve Tried:
    • I’ve checked Device Manager, and there is no TPM listed under the "Security Devices" section.
    • I’ve used the TPM.msc command in the Run dialog, and it shows that there is no TPM present.
    • I’ve also checked Windows Settings under "BitLocker" to ensure TPM is recognized, but it’s still not showing.

System Specs:

  • Motherboard: ASUS ROG STRIX B450-F GAMING
  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600
  • OS: Windows 11
  • BIOS Version: 5502 (previously 5404)
  • Secure Boot & fTPM settings: Both enabled in BIOS

I’ve seen similar issues mentioned in other forums, but none of the solutions have worked for me so far. I would appreciate any advice or suggestions from the community on how to get TPM recognized by Windows. Is there something specific I need to do to enable it on this motherboard with the latest BIOS versions?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hello @zaman_turja

Thank you for reaching out to us.
May I ask what your current need or purpose is for enabling TPM?
Could you please clarify whether this issue occurred right after building the PC, or if it started after using the system for some time and followed any recent changes, such as a BIOS update or component replacement?
When enabling fTPM in the BIOS, does it show that [Security Device Support] under Advanced\Trusted Computing is set to Enable?

We also recommend referring to How to check if your system supports TPM 2.0 and checking the current status through the Windows TPM Management tool.
If necessary, consider resetting the settings, clearing CMOS, and restarting the system to check again.

Thank you.
