I just received my phone today and I confirm no red tint issue in the phone. I went all the way down on brightness to 5 - 10%. The test was done indoors under the cool white led lights, at 5% brightness the notifications/setting panel was barely visible.
Will do a detailed review later today. But I think Asus did some software changes as I noticed that the brightens goes way down where everything is barely visible.
I did test on ROG UI and by default the notification has grey background. I have to check if night mode was ON or OFF. Will test and post my findings.
I really hope there are no issues like red tint, extreme heating and battery drain issue where phone last just a day with light usage and no gaming.
My first impressions is that its simply WOW phone, feels super premium and being an iPhone user for a long time I feel that its more premium than iPhone.
Here are my actual thoughts after the first day testing. I did the initial testing at default refresh rate and did not noticed the red tint earlier.
Red tint issue exists and is more prominent at 120Hz. It only happens in Asus UI theme and not in the classic Android theme. Maybe its just the theme issue but cant say for sure.
Its will be deal breaker for those who go below 50%.
Considering the value of the phone ASUS should figure out a solution soon or recall the phones if it's a panel issue.
Hi this actually looks bad and people that are battery conservative tend to keep their brightness at that percentage. This and the music option for the RGB lighting logo doesn't look good at all it's very random, i was trying to show it to my friend and it was very awkward because it didn't hit a single beat. If you could somehow get it's input to be from a low pass ,it could only pick up the bass. That's a start. But right now i cant show it off and it looks dumb hahahaha, please do something about the lighting.

I just received the replacement. The red tint is still there but much less as compared to my previous device, so this confirms this is a panel behavior, which means if you are planning to replace the device it might be good or bad ie the new device might have less tint or more tint.
I just tried myself ; switching the refresh rate does change the result. However, it does not fix completely the problem, I see the red tint on a darker gray (212121)
I agree with Averan. If I haven't seen the post I would have not noticed it. On my phone is not that pronounced, visible only on low lightness and would call it more orrange-ish as my icons when I pull down the notification and settings are orrange. I use the Rog theme.
To compare I have taken out my Note 8. And, surprise, surprise, it has the same effect when reducing brightness. Only in this case more yellowish. I use a theme with yellow icons so it looks to me it's dependent on the colour scheme of the theme. I haven't tried anything blue or green. The fact is if I haven't read this post I would never have noticed it, as I didn't using the Note for the past 2 years.
Maybe I am all wrong. Maybe some people here have serious screen issues and it's not what I experience at all. In my case it's negligible and can also be observed on Note 8
Called the Flipkart and said I've got defective unit. They replaced. I'm going to keep the replacement unit too because the issue to present in almost all ROG phones. No escaping.

Hello guys, Got my replacement unit from Flipkart today and guess what? Red Tint issue is present.!
Then I guess this is a software issue.
Its not the panel. Does not happen in classic theme mode under same conditions.

Seems like an universal amoled issue which arises due to higher refresh rates

So refresh rate between 90 and 120 have the same issue, a lighter gray, at 60hz it is on a darker gray.
Bro how did u get replacement? & What did u do with the replacement unit as it also has red tint issue?
