Yes. The risk is higher than 0%. Although the risk is not high.
A BETA however is exactly that - a beta. The chance to run into bugs are not small - and is the entire purpose of the program - so that we can react and catch bugs with a larger user base than just "ourselves".
Generally speaking, the previous ZenTalk betas have gone pretty smoothly but as mentioned in the BETA post - if you are expecting a trouble-free experience, I would not recommend joining.
And yes, backup any data you wish to keep. Which I would say is a good idea regardless.

What is the estimated date to start the beta?
Hello @CH_ASUS @Titan_ASUS i subscribed Android 11 beta teste to rog phone 2 but i didn't received any mail on my phone..
The same here. Didn't received confirmation e-mail. Thanks
Beta already started rolling out, We have to wait till stable.
How's the experience so far?
When you join the test plan, you are required to keep it confidential and not to disclose any test content.
Would be great news if it weren't for the fact that my Rog 2 with 1T of storage has totally stopped working with everything in it.
Same problems as many other appear to have experienced.
What a huge, expensive disappointment.
After years of buying ASUS phones this time I think I'm done!
Not getting Android 11 my phone how to get Android 11
Same. I live in the UK and haven't received OTA firmware update. My phone isn't modified too...
