If it is difficult to read, you may consider purchasing a keyboard sticker to enhance identification for use. Sorry for any inconvenience it may be caused.
I have EXACTLY the same issue, and sellers do NOT show what models have keyboard backlights.
I have been using computer keyboards since 1975 (My mainframe days), all though the PC era, until retirement, and I can honestly say, my Asus VivoBook X712EA is the WORST keyboard I have ever had the misfortune to use.
I too, have to resort to an overhead LED light to see the keys properly. Whoever thought of light gray legend on top of silver keys has NEVER had to use such a keyboard.
Always check that your F7 key has a little keyboard icon on it, and THAT model will have a backlight.
