Please tell us some basic information before asking for help:

  1. Model Name: Rog 5
  2. Firmware Version: WW_18.0840.2109.188
  3. Rooted or not: Not
  4. Frequency of Occurrence: Happily always!
  5. APP Name & APP Version (If your issue relates to the app): Phone calls

In addition to information above, please also provide as much details as you can, e.g., using scenario, what troubleshooting you've already done, screenshot, etc.

Thank you ASUS for supporting VoLTE & VoWiFi on Telstra mobile network, in Australia starting Nov 2021 firmware update! This has been long overdue, but, as they say, better late than never 😀.

Thank you. I hope the future ASUS phones have these sorts of essential functionalities right off the bat as and when the new phones are released in our market (and in hopefully every market you sell your phones to).

Good luck for those lacking these functionalities (and been patiently waiting!) that you too hopefully will soon be getting a similar treatment in your country on the mobile carrier of your choice.

  • What rom version are you on? I have no such support and I have just updated.

  • WW_18.0840.2109.188

Sorry are you with Telstra too? With Boost (Telstra retailer), I had to call them to "provision" VoLTE for my SIM initially. If you haven't already tested it, perhaps you can test your SIM out on another phone that's known to support VoLTE and VoWiFi to confirm that the SIM itself is good (like Samsungs or Apples)?

Finally, I remember executing this long ago to activate the VoLTE and VoWiFi settings to appear in Settings (simply having the settings & toggling them won't help if the carrier and/or SIM don't support those functionalities, of course): *#*#3642623344#*#*

  • To summarise, three things appear to be needed for VoLTE and/or VoWiFi to work:

    1. The phone having the necessary MBN files for the mobile carrier in question
    2. The SIM having VoLTE provisioned by the carrier in question
    3. Toggling VoLTE and VoWiFi settings (which may need that Enhanced 4G code trick to be executed first)

  • The first screen-shot shows an active VoLTE connection, while the second VoWiFi.

Upon connecting to WiFi, ASUS Rog 5 switches from VoLTE to VoWiFi in about ~10 seconds, which is definitely snappier than Moto G 5G -- perhaps it used to take ~20 seconds on Moto.

I remember that Moto was a little "sensitive" about VoWiFi, by dropping it off occasionally, but so far ASUS hasn't dropped VoWiFi, by holding on that connection rather strongly. So far, so good. Touch wood.

  • that sounds good now Asus please implement telstra volte for zenfone 8.

  • According to Whirlpool "Asus Zenfone 8 - Australian Model!!" thread, users are reporting that VoLTE & VoWiFi are working for them now (albeit having to force using Enhanced 4G code). You may want to consult that forum too.

  • Yep once you activate the code to show the 4g calling option in settings turning it on does get you provisioned for VoLTE on Telstra. My guess is that they have added unofficial support since people are complaining about it but they have not had the time to test it. Thank you Asus now this can return to being my favorite phone not just my favorite 5g access point.

  • Just an update for those who are enabling this. After each restart of the phone you will need to input the VoLTE code then go to settings and turn the enhanced 4g calling setting off then back on again to re enable VoLTE.

  • And let's hope that ASUS makes the whole VoLTE settings (and by extension VoWiFi) all automatic (and preserve them across reboot) for all AU mobile carriers in the upcoming firmware update, so that we don't have to follow any tricky procedures to activate those essential functionalities.

I've been thoroughly enjoying Rog 5's VoLTE and VoWiFi on Telstra/Boost for over a week now 😀. They've been rock solid! I especially like how fast VoLTE and VoWiFi activate themselves when connecting to their respective networks.

(With such settings activated as SSID Bridging - Fast Handover, SSID Bridging - Auto Connection & Mobile data always active -- all under Settings -> System -> Developer options -> Networking, roaming between WiFi hotspots & transitioning to and fro between mobile and WiFi work great. Though I believe keeping mobile data always active can have some effect on battery, when/where the mobile signal coverage is weak. Anyway I've been trying to workout all optimal configurations for my wireless network connections.)

As of the most recent 23 Nov 2021 firmware update, the Enhanced4G dialler code is no longer required to manually activate VoLTE for me (Boost/Telstra). I.e., VoLTE is getting automatically activated now.

I've been using VoLTE and VoWiFi for a few weeks now. I highly appreciate those functionalities working reliably on this ROG 5 phone. Thanks ASUS!

  • What is the VOLTE code and how to activate it??????

I'm thinking to buy the 5S pro as its about to be available @ JB Hifi on 16th December. Please let me know what to do to activate VOLTE as this has been my major issue and stopped me buying any of the ROG 5 series...

The Enhanced4G dialler code is #*#3642623344#*#

However, if ROG 5 (and by extension 5S) is on late Nov (.196) or early Dec 2021 (.200) firmware update, then there's no need to dial that code anymore.
