Android 10 Dark Mode needs improvement
The current Dark mode available in Android 10 beta versions is not real black. I would call it a washed out black. The notification area is the only place we are getting a real black color. Rest through out the system we are experiencing a washed out black color. We can clearly understand this by comparing other brands dark mode with our phones dark mode.
Below I have attached some screen shots. These are not a huge bug or anything. But, while comparing our phone with others personally I felt like we deserve better dark theme.
It would be nice if Asus can improve this. @Christine_ASUS @Anders @victor05lynn

By the way I'm using Asus max pro M1 and I'm on Beta 4 (.432). I believe it's the same case for Max pro M2.
This is how Google implemented the dark mode in android 10.
I don't think that is true bro. Please check this video . Its a pixel 3 running on Android 10. Take a look at the settings page shown in this video. We can clearly see a pure dark color.
Compare that with our settings page.
Edit: I'm not allowed to post links here. Please search youtube.
I'm not sure if Google did this to other brands dark mode. Like dark mode in Nokia, Mi A series running on Android one program, our devices etc.
Anyway, Pixel devices running on Android 10 is having pure black color.
That is how Google implemented dark mde in android 10.
Why do you think Google apps use the same grayish black for dark mode, it is because the dark mode in aosp is not pure black and it uses the grayish black.
It is also the same in my nokia 6.1 plus and nokia 8.1
Google pixel phone's is not a pure android phone without any custamisation done to the aosp, they use a completely different launcher and have a lot of custamisation done to differentiate itself from other devices.
Actually I'm not talking about Google apps. Ya, Google apps irrespective of device has a greyish black UI. The 5th screen shot was posted not to show Google messages app. It was posted as a part of the settings.
Ya, you are right Google might be the reason why Nokia is using a greyish black in the settings page etc. Well, Nokia devices are running on Android one program. So they might not be allowed to change the dark theme according to their wish.
But, Asus max pro series are not part of Android one program. So, why can't Asus customize those areas. After all asus max pro series is based on zenui which is close to stock android, right ? I'm not sure about what all Asus is permitted to change. Technically can't Asus modify these if they wish to ?
Also, how did the backup page in the 4th screenshot get pure black color. Is it designed in such a way or is it a mistake ?
Ya, I know these are not huge issues. Still I posted this thread here just out of curiosity.
Asus zenfone max pro m1 and M2 doesn't use zenui, they uses aosp without any custamisation.
I think the backup section is not part of the settings app, it looks like it opens new app when we click on backup on the settings. But I don't know for sure.
'aosp without any customisation'
Okay.👍 Without any customisation part is what annoys me. I feel like a bit of customisation (simple stuff) would do no harm.
I think the backup section is not part of the settings app, it looks like it opens new app when we click on backup on the settings. But I don't know for sure.
👍
In the original AOSP the Google search bar was designed to be at the bottom if I'm not wrong. But, Asus customised that and made it available at the top. It was a good move from Asus according to me. Similarly I think if they wish they can add pure black theme in settings page.
Any idea why Asus removed the display color adjustjment option ? Noticed it was removed after beta 4.
If I'm not wrong it was available in the initial beta builds.
I have already mentioned it to them earlier but they said its not in Google so we will not get it.
No, the Google widget is at the top and is not removable in aosp.
The display color adjustment feature is not a asus feature. It was in the aosp of android itself but Google removed that feature in android 10.
That is not what I said.
Since you told that you are having Nokia devices with you let me clarify my doubt.
1) Where is the permanent search widget in your devices located ( ie, at the top portion of the screen or at the bottom portion of the screen )
2) Are you able to change the search widget position in the home screen ? I'm not talking about removing the widget. I'm asking whether you are able to change its position.
The launcher in android one phone's are just a stripped down version of pixel launcher. They have the same animation, accent color and the corners are rounded off like in the pixel launcher. The launcher in android one phone's are designed by Google themselves.
1. It is on the bottom.
2. It is not movable.
The Google search widget in aosp is on the top but Google custamised it to be on the bottom for the pixel launcher, because of the launcher in android one phone's are a cut down version of pixel launcher they also have the Google search widget at the bottom, just like pixel launcher.
The Google search widget in aosp is on the top
How can you be sure about that ? Any proof to validate your claim ? Bro, asking just out of my curiosity😊
Refer to this
And also the android 10 beta for asus zenfone 5z and nokia 8.1 which is a aosp build also had the search widget on the top.
Okay....👍
