To my knowledge it has nothing to do with the phone book. I'm pretty sure you set the name during the install process and that you need to reset your phone to change this.

If during the installation process that person skipped to set a name then you can actually set it in the phonebook once. When you've set a name you can't change it to another name anymore unless you reset your phone again...
