Hi. The problem remained on all bluetooth devices. When playing bass notes, the sound is still lower. This also happens when listening to music on YouTube, although the sound drawdown is not as noticeable as when listening offline through a music player. I made another entry, playing the track through poweramp and YouTube https://drive.google.com/drive/f ... JOmZUo-QUPho7noICzD Recording_poweramp_player. On this recording, the sound is quieter on 01-10s 13-23s 26-36s. On the 19-20s 32-33s, you can hear a specific volume failure Recording_youtube. On this recording, the sound is quieter at 19-20s 32-33s. I repeat when listening through YouTube this is not so noticeable Link to track https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8rplHjBgyDM#t=01m04s Same problem https://www.asus.com/zentalk/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=230947 https://www.asus.com/zentalk/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=265682

I can confirm the problem described above. Using various BT 2.1 and 4.0 speakers / headsets, sounds seem heavily 'compressed' so all frequencies sound 'equally loud'. You could interpret this as reduced volume when bass notes kick in, but imho it seems there's something at work to make the 'perceived loudness' equal over all music notes. It basically ruins any dynamics in the music that's being played. It has been this way since I bought the phone, running Oreo and with the update to Pie the problem remains. In addition, I'd like to add to that both AAC capable headsets that I own (Philips & Teufel) default to the SBC BT codec under Pie (checked under Developer Options). AAC seems broken; if you manually set it for the connected devivce and recheck those settings after first leaving the Developer Options menu, it is set back to SBC. No difference in sound 'quality' is perceived. Under Oreo, AAC actually worked and you could switch between codecs this way. It was even possible to 'hear' the differences between codecs. HD audio in the BT profile for both devices is enabled on the phone.

Same problem here, no mather what device I'm connecting the sound is kind of muffled  ex. Bluetooth headset, external speaker or xiaomi roidmi. Even my amazfit watch can develop better sound quality when connected to these devices - clear and crispy sound. I've Tried multiply audio players but problem still persist so it's not a about a software,/app or audio format. IMHO its obvious There's something wrong with firmware, audio codecs, or audio Service on this Rom. Sad it's still not solved by any update and only thing u can do is ask us to reset Our devices to factory Mode or send you the problematic audio file.. Is it really hard to investigate why audio on this device is messed up or u are just unable to tell us the truth - it wont be better, it wont get any update it's a hardware problem etc..  Stop letting us down Asus..  🙂
