Amazon Prime video requires to disable hardware acceleration to reproduce video, also HBO Max has video decoding issues, the audio works but it has extremely glitchy video.

It's even worse. You can find other threads for their older phones (e.g. Zenfone 5) that has the same problem after diner updates, and they never got resolved either. I wanted to like this phone, but without manufacturer support, it's pretty much just an expensive paper weight...

How it works with my Zenfone 9:
1. Netflix - after restoring factory settings widevine L1 works fine
2. HBO - unfortunately restoring factory settings is not helping. For me the only way of watching hbo content is to download it first. After downloading I can watch movies without any problems.
3. Prime video - I have no idea. I don't use it.
4. Disney - works perfectly

It's a really weird issue to be honest. Netflix works perfectly same for Disney and now prime for some reason is working without an issues. HBO is still a problem if you want to stream anything without downloading it first like you said.
Sadly asus don't really care
