I hate the 'Material You' style of icons in recent Android versions, since a lot of apps have a massive white border around them and everything looks too similar.
I was disappointed that my go-to app for changing Icons on my Zenfone 9 home screen (Awesome Icons) didn't work quite as well on Android 13. Whenever I restarted my phone, the icons would revert back to their defaults.
However I've now discovered that you can reinstate all your shortcut icon images by simply going to Settings > Wallpaper & Style and toggling the "Themed Icons" button on and off!
Just thought I'd share this as it has made me very happy.
