Overall very happy with my ZenFone 8, but I'm running into an issue where the fingerprint reader has basically not worked properly since coming out of the box, usually telling me the sensor is "dirty" and needs to be cleaned.
I managed to get it to remember 2 thumb prints after lots and lots of effort,
It will recognize either print maybe 1 out of 10 times on the lock screen,
Deleting/re-adding the prints did not help much.
I have other phones with standard fingerprint sensors (Samsung) that work perfectly fine, so my skin is probably not the culprit here.
Note: phone is running latest software (.44) and screen is clean, no protector.
Anyone else experience a similar issue and is there a fix? I'd rather not return the phone 😞

daniel91mWe will keep on trying to improve it but the major changes done, are done and implemented. With 0.3mm glass, it is not usable. I am very nervous. Face scanning does not work in the dark. Is this problem only for me? Asus, will you any more fixes?

We cannot do much around the issue of protective glass covers (0.3mm is not "thin" enough most of the time).
Improvements have been made and it does seem to have helped a lot of users - but as always with these kind of things there will still be a subset of users who see no improvement - and maybe even regression..
czinege.tamasNo.. not specifically for this issue of wet fingers. In case my skin is wet (up to one hour after just washing my hand, or just gripping a moisturous surface e.g. a cold drink in summer time), it is almost impossible (1 or max 2 attempts from 10) to unlock the phone with the fingerprint reader. Ususally I give up and use the pattern unlock, or after so many failed attempts the phone ask for the pattern anyway. So I cannot imagine how the handcream would help...
Can Asus improve on this? Thanks
