ASUS today announced that the latest Android 12 upgrade will be available for the ZenFone 8 series commencing in December, 2021. This will be followed by upgrades for the ROG Phone 5 and 5s series in the first quarter of 2022. The upgrades for the Zenfone 7 series and ROG Phone 3 series are expected during the first half of 2022.

This update inherits the major functional changes introduced in the official version of Android 12, as well as continuing the popular ASUS battery- and performance-management features. For Zenfone models, it also includes ZenUI-specific changes that allow easier navigation, streamlined control panels, increased visibility for better control and more customization options.

ASUS has already recruited Zenfone 8 users for the Android 12 beta testing program. The beta program will help identify and fix bugs based on real user experiences before the final software is rolled out in December.

Sounds good.
After updating to A12, when watching videos in fullscreen, two black spots appear on the screen. Is anyone else experiencing this? When taking a screenshot they wont show on the picture.

In landscape mode yes. The transition from portrait to landscape has facepalm sized bug, as the "black spot" is actually the "software place" of selfie cam. And also the portrait mode's screen corner arc is in the top middle of the landscape screen. Ffs how stupid it looks, I am sorry.
Also my top statusbar freezes almost everyday, eg clock and battery levels just freeze there and are not updated.
Thanks to the tips in here I also updated manually. Update went fine so no problem with it. But the quality of A12 update is substandard. Not to mention the still missing OTA after 1 month of wait (Finland).
Haven't really given Asus recommendations to friends asking "what phone should I get?". Shame.

It seems quite a few people have it - but not me. In my case it's perfectly fine.

Same issues here. Very irritating. I wouldn't recommend ASUS phone to my friends either.
