How to open recovery mode in asus 6z? What is the procedure?

You press volume upp and powerbutton. Release the powerbutton after about 2 seconds but keep pressing the volume upp. It might take a couple of tries. You select recovery mode with the volume key and confirm with the power key

Will this method also work with the Windows-based VivoTab Note 8 (M80TA)?  When I boot this tablet it always loads nicely up to the first splash screen (date & time) but then stops and the screen becomes unresponsive.  I've tried the Power + Up-Volume many times with no success.  Suggestions?
