I have just installed a brand new integral 256gb micro sd card. File manager shows it as 268gb and when I put all my music files onto it I get 2 or 3 albums with no files in them

Hi. i suggest you should try formatting it again using your phone. then serial xxxx-xxxx will change.

Likely a fake card, 268GB cards do not exist. For example, 256GB reports as 249.99GB, always a lower not a higher value. https://photographylife.com/fake-memory-cards

I agree but when I format it on my laptop it shows as 249gb.
