I am using my Zenfone 11 Ultra since March and I found the camera performance quite good, overall. I noted that sometimes colour rendering is affected by the automatic exposure , but manual exposure adjustments provide good results. I also noted that going to maximum zoom setting 30X the quality of the image is heavily degraded but stay around the 3X the quality is good. It is true that image improvements can be achieved via further software optimisation, but also you have to be clear about limitations of the existing phones.
There was an extensive blind test performed end of 2013 involving the supposed-to-be best camera phones, the results were eventually rather surprising, at that time the ROG 7 Ultimate was selected to be the best camera phone

I really do not know how you can say that indoor photos are "the most disgraceful" ones. I took photos of the living room in my apartment (1X camera setting) with natural light only and keeping the phone in my hands, I can still enlarge the picture and read the titles of small books that are actually 10 meters away. Improvements are always welcome, but in normal use the camera already delivers high quality images. At least that is my experience so far.
