Accept my apologies as I know everything that will be mentioned in this thread has probably been said before but I am completely incapable of accepting that compact phones are finished and I want to, once and for all, make a decision on the 10.
I know that there will be no further Google updates, but as this is a specifically sticky issue, please share your thoughts if you have used a phone beyond it's covered lifespan. I currently have a Find X2 Neo. I'm sure this is old. Am I also living beyond a securely updated term?

Hello,
I wouldn't recommend buying a Zenfone 10, primarily due to lack of active support from Asus part, primarily the lack of being able to downgrade to a specific firmware version, I do own a Zenfone 10 and I've found the software has glitches, the main issue I've encountered is external storage support is broken on my phone right now and Asus so far has not provided a fix for it, not even a reply.
Another issue is unexplained battery drain, to which I proceeded to factory reset the phone and I wanted to do a fresh ROM install and the procedure to do so DOES NOT WORK (placing the Firmware on the root on the phone) does not make a difference so that the notification is displayed.
Regarding security updates I wouldn't worry about that, given that you do not visit dubious sites, also Google Play has its own security features embedded, so just as reference, before getting the Zenfone 10 I was using a refurbished Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact which had a non-original LCD panel but it worked fine with Android 9 for every day tasks, so I'm also fond of Compact phones, but at least with Sony you're allowed to put Custom ROMs on it, you CANNOT do that on the Zenfone line, Asus promised for you to be able to unlock the Bootloader, but so far only promises and nothing else.
So I would recommend maybe getting the Samsung Galaxy S24 which will receive 7 years of Android version updates. OR get any of the Pixel phones, heck even Sony. I have ressigned that we'll not get not any more Compact phones anymore, but I'm dissapointed on having bought a Zenfone phone, I'm afraid one day I'll have to reinstall the ROM and I wouldn't have the means or tools to do so. Please stay away from this company.
