It can, you have just never tried to scan one using our camera app 🙂

In the Q update this feature will be taken care of by the Google lens app which has a shortcut from the camera app

Nice. I was about to suggest it. For now on A9. I use Google assistant to get to Glens. It great to have a short cut from stock cam.

Yep it's handy having an shortcut through the stock cam
