Hi there!
Just got the Android 16 update pushed to my phone (ROG Phone 9 Pro) and started using it today. Now I found two issues so far, one is only a minor cosmetic one but the other one is bugging me out.
So I thought I'd just start a thread to let you know about these and to collect things, that maybe others have noticed. I'll also keep posting here, in case I find anything else.
The minor cosmetic one is the scrollbar on the application list:
The bar is now glued to the side with 0px space and as a result the slider is also cropped. Looks a bit weird. As I mentioned, only minor thing, but I thought, better jot it down somewhere 🙂
The one, that is really bugging me out is the changed behaviour in the soft buttons at the bottom of the screen. The active area, which registers a press on these buttons has been massively reduced/changed. I already felt too stupid to press the buttons until i dug a bit deeper and figured out, that something has changed with the update.
I debugged it and it looks like an issue with the processing of the y position in the bottom rows of the touchscreen.
I measured the behaviour and it looks like this:
Yellow is the actual position of the finger on the screen (I used a more precise tool than my finger, but for the sake of simplicity let's say it's the finger on the screen) and red is the calculated one by the OS. I tested this with the dev tools to visualize the touch position
Above the green line everything is fine, but starting with the green line continuing to the bottom of the screen the y position of the touch is trailing of exponentially until the lower end of the icons, where it is hitting an y position of 0. And since the position is trailing of to the bottom of the screen, when you try to click any of the soft-menu buttons like home, back etc. and you are in the lower half of the icon, the y position of the touch recognized by the OS is actually 0 and not on the button anymore. Therefore the press on the button is not recognized.
Took me a bit to understand the issue, but this is why half of the time I press any of these buttons it just doesn't work. Did anyone else experience a similar behaviour on their phone? If yes, Asus, could you have a look at it, whether this might be a software issue? It appeared right after the reboot of the Android 16 upgrade.
If I find anything else, I'll post it in this thread 🙂

I think i also have the 2nd issue. i feel that the buttons now feels less responsive. I keep pressing back but it seems that it does not respond as well. Didnt try dev mode, but feels the same as yours

Hello @f3lang
I'm sorry you are experiencing this, are you using the ASUS launcher? The ROG launcher? or a third party launcher? And in that case, which one?

Hey @Mattias_ASUS ,
no worries, I can still use my phone 🙂 Thanks for reacting to this so quickly!
I am using the Stock launcher in the "ASUS Optimized" interface mode and haven't installed any other launcher.

Thank you for the info! Will pass it on to the devs!
