WW_35.1210.1420.111 on ASUS ROG Phone 8 Pro and Android 15 challenges with Vulkan

The recent firmware update WW_35.1210.1420.111 for the ASUS ROG Phone 8 Pro has drawn criticism from users due to a series of reported issues. According to multiple testimonials on official ASUS forums (ZenTalk), the update appears to bring more bugs than fixes, affecting the user experience. One of the main drawbacks is accelerated battery drain, a recurring problem that had already been noted in previous versions and persists in this version (3,8) .}

In addition, some users have experienced front camera and fingerprint sensor failures after the update, complicating essential functions such as biometric unlocking or video calls (7)

Another critical issue is incompatibility with specific applications, such as Instagram, where users report visual or functional errors that affect navigation and normal use of the app (10).

Problems with file management and failed updates have also been mentioned, suggesting inconsistencies in the stability of the operating system after installing the firmware (5,4).

In the context of Android 15 (A15) , the transition to the Vulkan API instead of OpenGL ES adds complexity. Although Vulkan offers greater performance and hardware control, its implementation requires precise optimization. On devices such as the ROG Phone 8 Pro, with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 compatible with Vulkan 1.3, these errors could be related to conflicts between the new graphics architecture and drivers that have not yet been optimized, especially in apps that rely on OpenGL ES and must be translated through intermediate layers such as ANGLE (1,6).  @Titan_ASUS   @Admin @keren_ASUS   love 🫂

Although the ASUS ROG Phone 8 Pro stands out for its powerful performance geared toward both gaming and multimedia content, some users have pointed out that the recent WW_35.1210.1420.111 firmware update has certain drawbacks that affect the overall experience of the device. Among the most common reports are battery life issues, sensor failures such as fingerprint and some cameras, as well as instability in specific applications.

In this context, and with the arrival of Android 15, there is also the challenge of gradually migrating to more modern graphics APIs such as Vulkan, instead of the traditional OpenGL ES. This transition, while promising better hardware utilization, requires careful optimization by manufacturers and developers.

ASUS faces the task of releasing future fixes to align the software with the high level of performance offered by the device's hardware. In the meantime, those experiencing problems may consider staying on previous firmware versions or reporting their cases through official technical support channels to help diagnose and resolve these issues.
