Is it possible to connect the rog 8 to the computer using a Qualcomm engineering cable, then bypass the bootloader in EDL mode and directly flash the machine, thereby unlocking the bootloader lock and completing root?

There´s no way to unlock this phone without the app that provides Asus, only you can do is wait till this Moderators say something about it, we have waiting at least two years

No bootloader unlock so impossible. You can still use some apps with shizuku.
