ROG 7 It looks a bit extremer on the photo than it actually is.
When choosing a black photo, only the "pinkish" part is pitch black. Area increases or decreases with refresh rate and brightness, but generally bottom and top left.
60hz without dc dimming turns pitch black at a higher brigthness (about 70%) same as 120hz, but that one only after about 1.5 seconds idling.
Apart from that it gets darker with a lower brightness, but color is more similar at a high brightness.
My screen protector migh also affect this.
For black at least, 60hz dc dimming and 144hz work by far the best.

Not only that, if you play a game, you will notice that the refresh rate and screen brightness are inconsistent. For example, in the game MLBB, where the game runs at 120 Hz or 120 FPS, but the screen brightness appears as if the game is running at 165 Hz or 165 FPS. This bug occurs when using the automatic refresh rate and manual settings in Armoury Crate (not in X mode or dynamic mode). However, this is different from games like Genshin Impact, where the game only runs at 60 Hz or 60 FPS, but the screen displays brightness as if it’s running at 165 Hz or 165 FPS. In Genshin Impact, the automatic refresh rate isn’t the issue; even if the game is set to 60 Hz, the screen will still appear bright (as if it's running at 165 Hz)
