Hi All,
I have a ROG Phone 7 on Google Fi with their unlimited plus plan. I recently bought a ROG Ally X to game while traveling. I tried using my hotspot and unfortunately while I can browse the web and watch youtube to go on reddit etc I cannot connect to any gaming servers. Destiny 2, Genshin Impact, neither work. Steam does not even connect to at all. I reached out to Google Support and they eventually said that the ROG Phone 7 is not compatible with using the hotspot. To me that makes 0 sense.
I tried using my wife's iPhone on Verizon and it worked flawlessly with each. Has anyone had a similar issue? I don't understand what is so different than my phone on Android 14 and say a Pixel or Galaxy.

Hello there @omgdracula
This is probably the first time I've heard about this, could you please share your Wi-Fi hotspot settings with me? A picture should be enough, as I know for sure the hotspot does work in the phones, I now wonder if this could be something related to Google Fi but I'd like to test your settings first.

Hey Mattias!
Here is a screenshot. I matched these settings to my wife's iPhone on Verizon. I should clarify that this seems to be with mobile data only. If I turn off my mobile data and use my home Wi-Fi and connect my ROG Ally X to my phone hotspot I can connect to game servers. If I turn off my Wi-Fi and use mobile data my Ally connects to the phone and network. I can browse the Internet. Reddit, watch YouTube videos etc. But if I open steam, destiny 2 or Zenless Zone Zero I cannot connect to game servers.
I chatted with Google Fi support last night and they said their specialist team said my Phone is not fully compatible with Fi but it's odd I can browse the web and watch YouTube but not game.
A couple threads online pointed to APN settings as well.

Thanks for the info!
Will contact the team and get some tests done and I'll get back to you 🙂
