How to keep smart watch connected?

I use a Garmin Fenix 6x connected to my phone, worked great on the rog 2 but on the 6 pro it disconnects every day or two.
I'll just stop getting notifications till i open one of the Garmin apps (Connect and Connect IQ) which forces a reconnect.
I have turned off battery optimization for these apps and the watch still loses connection. I'm sure it's phone killing Bluetooth connections after a period of time but i can't find settings to stop that
Any ideas?

I just found the system Bluetooth "app" and set it to unrestrictive so we'll try that too.

Killing BT? I don't think so. In battery settings there is section about optimalization (last one) with two settings which may affect on Garmin Connect killing: detect draining app, manage background apps.

Those two apps I've already turned off battery optimization as mentioned.

However I'm having good luck with turning off battery optimization for the system Bluetooth app so far.

No luck, phone still disconnects from Bluetooth randomly.
