MegaloxLooks similar to this:I've got the same issue, I've isolated the problem by testing further, seeing other threads and the issue can be manifested as:
pre-req
- Have the refresh rate higher than 60hz (it works fine when using 60)
- Use any browser to reproduce videos (or even animations)
- Use Netflix app to reproduce videos
When watching videos in a browser (any), the screen starts flickering, also when using Netflix
It doesn't happen with other apps such as: Insta, Youtube, FB.
It appears like that the browser and Netflix use a library/plugin/media browser service? or similar that makes this issue to happen.
As per the suggestion of turning off the HW overlay thing in the developer options, nope it doesn't work
Yes, it's a bug. Yes I did factory reset after upgrading to .158

GabeTurn off "Android SurfaceControl".Using ROG Phone 2 8gb/128 (ASUS_I001DD)
Firmware 17.0240.2105.90 (non rooted, all original)
Chrome 91.0.4472.120
Always happens when there's a small video window running while scrolling through a website (normally those video ads).
The entire screen flickers a little depending on the colors shown on the website and on the video, like if the device seem to be trying to auto calibrate the screen to the right setting but just can't and keep trying, changing between different screen contrast and maybe other auto settings.
It's not a new problem. Plagues my device since I bought it (last year), but the latest update said this would be fixed while using 120hz and so far it's not.
The "Splendid" video calibration is set to "cinematic". I can't say for sure, but seems to be linked to this splendid thing.
Thanks in advance and I hope Asus can take a look into it.
Screen flicker still occurs while using Chrome

PervageThat was from ROG 2 and I haven't personally faced the issue nor I have ROG 3.@ronald1985 but last version this issue was not there. I mean the .138 update.
Here are one more video for this issue.

If the same problem happens to other browsers other than Chrome, then yeah, it could be a firmware update that's the issue. If Chrome only, then it suggest specifically to Chrome update and not the firmware itself.
No idea how Netflix fits into all of this though but I guess it is a start.

ronald1985Thanks mate, I did a quick test and this is a workaround (at least) for Chrome 🙂https://zentalk.asus.com/en/discussion/comment/186284#Comment_186284
