KenWongSo, it is definitely a hardware failure. Some interesting observation here. ROG Phone 3 + Twin View Dock 2, only ROG Phone 3 have black crush issue but not Twin View Dock 2. But if ROG Phone 3 + Twin View Dock 3, both display shows black crush issue. And ROG Phone 2 + Twin View Dock 3, only the Twin View display have black crush issue.
With that, I heavily suspect the black crush issue is indeed, a widespread hardware defect, so updates can be done is to remove the lower end brightness value as a fix or change color profile but sacrificing intending panel accuracy standard. But I might be wrong, as there might be driver specific tweaking required. All we can do still to wait and see what future updates do.
Tho for so long there are no updates, with one plus probably source the same panel already have black crush issue for months but no fix to be released despite claim of not hardware defect. If the update postpone for half a year upon release, I can already see they just waiting for next generation product to be release and forget about previous issue.

gfg59204Yep, so im keeping the observation as just an observation for now, hopefully upcoming update does have a concrete fix. Because large quantity of buyer is also requesting replace/refund here to the point asus no longer consider this as hardware defect for warranty claim, so I have no way to replace. If update truly fixes it ill be happy to keep as daily driver.https://zentalk.asus.com/en/discussion/comment/111670#Comment_111670

The problem (one plus 😎 is different from the rog phone 3 problem because oneplus supports hdr and dc dimming and it is the cause of the problem while rog phone 3 does not support dc dimming
Software Rog Phone 3 is a lot of bugs I'm considered this Software Beta
Maybe the problem in one of the new colors technology that Asus has been added by Hardware and because of poor Software control occurred the problem
maybe I'm wrong
