Hii, within this week I'm planning to buy a laptop for my uni study. I'm an international business student and I don't expect too much heavy task in it

I always enjoy watching movie and thats why l want to buy asus zenbook 14 due to the oled. However, I heard that this laptop doesn't has a good battery life (I expect 6 hours atleast with video playback and 7-8 hours in web browsing). Plus, I heard that the thermal issues happen a lot in this laptop even with just a light task. It is at a point where people concern abt the safety condition of the laptop.

some says a good feedback while some says otherwise.

Please can u guys help me whether its worth for me to buy this laptop or not?

The (U.S.) specs says that the laptop can go 15+ hours. The disclaimer says that, "Battery tests conducted by ASUS on Oct, 2023 using the 1080p Video Playback scenario. Test configuration: Zenbook UX3405MA, FHD OLED panel, Intel Intel® Core™ Ultra 5-125H processor, 512GB SSD, 8GB RAM. Test settings: WiFi enabled but disconnected (not connected to any access point), Windows Power Plan set to Balanced, display brightness set to 150 cd/m2. Actual battery life may vary depending on product configuration, usage, operational conditions and power management settings. Battery life will decrease over the lifetime of the battery."

In other words, you'd have to reduce the power usage in order to maximize the battery life. Streaming, comfortable lighting levels, RAM size, background programs, etc. affects the figure.  By how much?  Even if someone gave a real-world figure to you, nobody uses a laptop the same way that you do.

Having said that, you likely need a lower-power processor:  out of the U.S.-spec laptops with an OLED 14" screen, a laptop with a Intel Core Ultra 5 or (better) a Snapdragon X CPU installed will do, with some possible limits on the Snapdragon machine if you need a program/app that requires an Intel/x86 processor, feature, or device driver.
