ASUS ZenDrive V1M

I have a MAC BOOK AIR M2 2022 and bought ASUS ZENDRIVE V1M and mac will not recognize the asus or play the cd s .  I bought the cd/dvd asus player because my new mac book air does not have a cd drive anymore. 

why wont the cd s play. i am not a tech person and wondered if i missed something. please help
