Google has removed the "IPSec Xauth PSK" option and other VPN options from Android 13, leaving only three options, including one that is not secure (MSCHAPv2). As a result, users of Asus routers (including the latest models) can only connect to their VPNs using IPSec with XAuth, which requires a username, password, and a pre-shared key. However, the IKEv2/IPSec PSK on Android does not support usernames and passwords, making it impossible to connect to the Asus router by VPN, which is a highly useful feature, especially when traveling abroad.
Has anyone found a solution to this problem? Attempts to contact Asus for support have been unresponsive.
One possible workaround is to download the OpenVPN Connect app and connect to the router via OpenVPN. However, this option is not very efficient and can be power-hungry. Furthermore, when extracting the necessary certificate from the Asus router and importing it into the OpenVPN app, an error occurs (Failed remote).
