I think my AX6600 unit that is serving as the main unit/router is failing. I have an identical unit that is currently used as a node.
How can I remove the failing one and replace it with the identical one ? Do I have to set the network up all over again, or can I transfer the settings to the other unit (and physically replace the failing one ?)
I am FAR from expert at this...and really need some guidance.
Thanks for any help.

You may not have a failing router.
Please read: https://zentalk.asus.com/t5/networking/zenwifi-xt8-lan-ports-suddenly-stopped-working/td-p/483852
Not doing a WPS factory reset after the firmware update can cause a performance loss after a period of time. You would need to WPS factory reset both routers and can then re-apply your saved settings from the main router. If this doesn't work, you may need to WPS reset both again and apply your setting manually.

If your main is hardware failing, you should set the node up as a new router and can use your same security and password to setup the same SSIDs. Your clients should re-connect within 30 minutes. Some may require a manual re-connect.

Since it is the exact same model you could simply backup the configuration from the current router and restore the configuration to the node:
