new x670e motherboard smells burnt out of the box...

is this normal? I don't think i've ever had a motherboard smell like burnt plastic before. It's brand new sealed from the asus store on amazon, no visible damage or anything besides the pretty strong smell, should I ever try it or just return? x670e gaming e

Smell was immediately noticeable after removing from the plastic and is strong up close. It's 100% coming from where the cmos battery is.
