I've done a backup to a SATA disk connected to a hot swap adaptor. The original C disk is an NVMe. I cannot get the PC to boot from this disk. The BIOS says it's disabled. Is there a change I need to make in the BIOS, or am i wasting my time?
It's a B550M-A AC motherboard.
Thanks

Hello @TonyMan
Thank you for reaching out to us.
Could you please confirm if the issue of being unable to designate the system drive as the boot disk is resolved after removing the hot swap adapter and installing the system drive directly on the motherboard?
If the issue persists, it could be caused by partition errors or an incompatibility between the partition format on the drive and the boot mode. In addition to testing with another system drive, please verify that no partitions on the hard drive are set as the active boot partition.
Additionally, ensure that the corresponding port is not disabled in the BIOS and check whether CSM is enabled. Please refer to the instructions in [Motherboard] Troubleshooting - Cannot find the hard disk drive or SSD (M.2) after motherboard power..., if needed.
Thank you.

I tried connecting it directly to a SATS port and it still wouldn't boot. The motherboard sees it and I choose it as the first boot device.
One person told me that they felt since this was closed from an NVMe the motherboard won't recognize it properly. could that be the reason?
