Asus Pro WS680-ACE doesn't recognize PCIe SATA expansion card w Asmedia 1166 chipset

I have Asus Pro WS680-ACE (with Intel Core i7-13700K processor, Windows 11 Pro) and it doesn't want to recognize StarTech PCIe 3.0 6-port SATA expansion card and HDDs attached to the card. The PCIe card has Asmedia 1166 chipset. According to the StarTech tech support, there are no drivers available, and PCIe card should work as plug-and-play. StarTech claims that there is incompatibility between the PCIe card and this new Asus motherboard and there is nothing that they could do.

The StarTech PCIe 3.0 6-port SATA expansion card works out of box and recognizes the card and all attached HDDs, without a need of any driver  in the older systems, e.g. Asus H87M-PRO motherboard with Intel 4th gen processors and Windows 10 Home. It's really plug-and -play.

However, it seems the PCIe with Asmedia 1166 chipset just doesn't want to work with new motherboards with 13th gen Intel processors.

Does anyone know how to either

1.  get the recent Asmedia 1166 SATA controller/driver (or firmware) to install it manually, or

2. to make the PCIe 3.0 SATA card with Asmedia 1166 chipset and attached HDDs be seen by the new motherboard?

Hello @renako

Thank you for reaching out to us.
Regarding your first request, since Zentalk is an official ASUS forum, we recommend that you further consult with the relevant dealer or supplier to confirm this requirement.
As for your second question, may I ask if the motherboard correctly recognizes the drives when your HDDs are directly connected to the SATA ports on the motherboard?
Based on your description of the supplier's reply, the motherboard not recognizing the adapter card could indeed be due to incompatibility.
We suggest cross-testing different slots or using another adapter card to further rule out potential hardware or compatibility problems.

Motherboard products are open platforms, allowing you to choose and install any hardware based on your needs.
However, when building a PC, we recommend that you follow the relevant specifications and installation instructions in the user manual and avoid using adapter cards to prevent potential instability or compatibility issues.

Thank you.
